Six Facts About the Bible
There is a war being waged over the Bible. Is the Bible true on
everything with which it deals? The answer you give to this important
question determines whether you live in doubt or faith. I am convinced
of the following facts about the Bible:
1. It is infallible. It is perfect, flawless (Psa. 19:7).
It is such because its author is perfect. In its entirety, everything
it says is true!
2. It is inerrant. That is, it is accurate in every detail
- in all its parts. "Every word is pure" (Prov. 30:5-6).
If the Bible says it, it is true! Whatever the subject - history,
science, characters, salvation it is true! If the Bible is false
in its account of origins, how can I trust it to be true as to
the relationship I should have with my God?
3. It is complete. Nothing is missing! It does not need
human addition or modification. It is not a book to be variously
interpreted in the light of current experience and culture. Its
teaching, principles, and dictums transcend culture and human experience.
4. It is authoritative. Because it is perfect, inerrant,
and complete - it is final. God hath spoken. Man must listen or
suffer the consequences. It, by its very nature, demands obedience.
5. It is sufficient. The Scriptures are able to make one
wise unto salvation (2 Tim. 3:15). They are profitable for doctrine
(teaching), correction, instruction (2 Tim. 3:16).
6. It is effective. It does its job. It always has. It
will accomplish that for which it was intended (Isa. 55:11). That's
the ultimate test.
So the Bible is infallible in its totality, inerrant
in all its parts, complete in what it teaches, authoritative in
its demands, sufficient in its ability, and effective in what
it does! This I believe and preach.

"I Have Found the Book of the Law"
In the days of Josiah, the high priest made a remarkable discovery.
"And Hilkiah, the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe,
I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And
Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it" (2 Kings
22:8). How was it that the book of God's law came to be lost in
the temple itself? It was lost through years of neglect. Wicked
leaders had forsaken God to the point that the book of the law
was lost.
Is the church in danger of doing the same thing? When Christians
begin to place more emphasis on the words of philosophers and
psychologists than on the Word of God, they are burying the book
of the law. The church always must go to the Bible for its authority
in all matters. It will be our standard of judgment (John 12:48).
It is living and powerful (Heb. 4:12). It is the light to guide
the way (Psa. 119:105). Let's make sure we do not lose the book
of the law.
