. . . has been preaching since the third Sunday evening of October in 1973 (potluck Sunday). In 1974 Bonnie, Louis and their baby daughter Rebecca began full-time in the ministry. In 1977 Bonnie and Louis graduated from courses at Memphis School of Preaching. Over the years, sons Raymond and Robert were born to the Rushmores. The Rushmores have served congregations full-time in Michigan, Virginia, Illinois, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. Louis has preached by appointment in several states east of the Mississippi River, Texas, Arkansas and Canada.

Since 1990 the Rushmores have supported themselves through secular work and labored with several congregations in Ohio and West Virginia in a secondary capacity or by appointment. During that time, Rebecca and Raymond have been afforded the opportunity to finish their public schooling in one location. Robert will graduate from high school in two years.

Louis' greatest personal gratification has been to serve as an instructor at West Virginia School of Preaching in Moundsville, West Virginia since 1995. Otherwise, he devotes himself to writing articles and books. Louis' articles have been published in several Gospel journals, including: the Gospel Advocate, Christian Bible Teacher, Firm Foundation, Therefore Stand, First Century Christian, Truth for the World and Contending for the Faith. Louis has also participated in radio and television evangelism. He also has spoken on lectureships (such as the Memphis School of Preaching Lectures) and Gospel meetings. Hobbies include computers and model railroads.
